A Weekend in Dahlonega, Georgia

I'm delayed to posting as always, but I had my bachelorette trip back in April and thought would be informative to you guys to share what we did! Also to reminisce on the memories. It was a fun weekend and it was one of the only things in the wedding/bridal world that I wanted to have and I'm so glad I did!

Why did you choose Dahlonega instead of a popular bachelorette city like Nashville or Las Vegas?
Originally, I had dreamed of going to Las Vegas or Miami for a bachelorette trip. But with our destination wedding and all the travel I had planned this year, I decided to keep the bachelorette celebration more low-key to avoid adding extra stress. I also didn’t want to ask my friends to spend even more money flying to an expensive city, especially with Italy already on the calendar. Dahlonega, less than 2 hours north of Atlanta, was the best choice since most of my friends could drive there, with only two girls having to fly in. And it's the mountains and ya girl loves the mountains and vineyards.

Day 1 - Travel Day
It was a working day for majority of us, so we just decided to get to the Airbnb that day whenever it was convenient for each person. We all got there late in the evening.

Day 2 - Hiking & Dinner
As much as I hate the outdoors and bugs, I really enjoy the mountains and hiking for some odd reason? We started the day off with breakfast and then went hiking on two different trails. All the girls came on the first hike and anyone who had energy to keep going stayed on to go on the second hike. Both trails are listed below if you want to visit!

Note: you have to pay to park. When we went the machine was down and they had a QR code to pay online and the service was GARBAGE and we basically had to walk out into the street for at least one of us to get service. Might have been a one-time situation, but something to keep in mind!

Once we were all back, we started getting ready for dinner at Montaluce Winery & Restaurant. The restaurant can get busy, so I would recommend making reservations in advance. It was not busy at all when we arrived, so I probably could have made same-day reservations, but it's better to be safe than sorry, haha. I chose this place because I had come here with some friends before and my husband and I took our engagement photos here. It's a BEAUTIFUL vineyard and you wouldn't be able to tell that you were in the middle of Georgia!

Day 3 - Vineyard Hopping
Dahlonega has a lot of vineyards (like way more than I expected!) and I had a hard time narrowing down which ones to visit since I was overwhelmed with options. Did some research and ended up booking a wine tour through DSH Transportation (not sponsored, wish I was) and it was probably the best decision I could have made. The best company to work with! They offer transportation and will take you to 4 vineyards out of 8 to choose from. They will give recommendations on what your preferences are, if needed. I wanted to go to vineyards with beautiful views and to have at least 1-2 with food options in case we got hungry since we were going to be out all day.

They have VIP tickets which include a tasting at each vineyard or you can purchase a ticket without the tastings and then choose to purchase a tasting at whichever vineyard you want. A driver will pick up your group in the morning and then will drive you to all the vineyards and then bring you back to where you are staying. It was awesome. Linking all vineyards below if you guys want to visit!

We got back around 5:30pm and just chilled for the rest of the evening. One of the most fun and memorable days! Would definitely recommend doing something like this whether for a bachelorette or for fun with a group of friends.

Day 4 - Travel Day
We scattered our departures. The girls who had flights left first thing in the morning and the rest of us cleaned and left before checkout.

TIP!!! There are a lot of curvy roads being around the mountains. If you get carsick, I would highly recommend bringing some meds. Half the girls in our group dealt with motion sickness, so we ended up going to the grocery store to buy some. Just something to keep in mind!

I hope this post was helpful! Here's a consolidated list of all the places we went to:
- Preachers Rock
- Desoto Falls
- Montaluce Winery & Restaurant
- Wolf Mountain Vineyards
- Kaya Vineyard & Winery
- The Cottage Vineyard & Winery
- Yonah Mountain Vineyards
