My Skincare Routine

Sorry it's been so long since I blogged! I am currently in Michigan doing an internship for the summer so I've been busy. I honestly thought I would have more time to kill now because I would be working 9-5 and then just chilling instead of studying after but HA, total opposite. No time for anything except for working out and taking a shower!

But anyways... while I was packing for this trip, I noticed I packed a lot of makeup/skincare products. I always used to think, how do these girls spend so much time and use so many products on their face when all you need to do is shower? But while I was packing I realized that I am one of those girls. Oops.

So I thought I would go through how I take care of my skin in the morning and at night because apparently I have a routine?? Yikes, it almost sounds like I have my life together! (I don't.) I have always had relatively clear skin, but in high school my skin would break out more sporadically. It was only in college when I decided to actually take care of my skin and since then I have seen improvements, so I have kept up with this routine daily. I do break out when I'm stressed out or eat certain foods, but I know what the cause is so it doesn't bother me as much. My routine is not a lot of work and is actually pretty simple!

My MORNING Routine
I don’t do a lot to my face in the morning except moisturize which is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for everyone, male and female! It keeps your skin hydrated and helps prevent aging, which is never too early to worry about in my opinion. After washing my face with just plain tap water, I PAT, not rub, my face dry (rubbing your face can cause wrinkles) with a face towel. Then I put on Olay’s Complete All Day Moisturizer With Sunscreen which you can purchase from Wal-Mart and probably any local drugstore. I don’t think it really matters what kind of moisturizer you use as long as you moisturize. I also use this as a base if I decide to wear makeup that day, but whether or not I do wear makeup, I will never skip moisturizing. It makes a difference, trust me! And that's basically all I do in the morning.

My NIGHTTIME Routine
If I have any makeup on, I go ahead and remove it using COVERGIRL Clean Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips. It says it’s for eyes and lips, but I’ll use it for any other face makeup if I’m wearing anything else. Haven’t had a allergic reaction yet. #rebelstatus
Then I’ll wash my face using a cleanser. The cleanser I use is Olay Age Defying Classic Cleanser. Nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done quite well while also gently exfoliating my face.
3 or 4 times a week I will use a microdermabrasion treatment on my trouble areas (usually my nose and forehead region, aka the T-zone), which does some extra exfoliating and cleansing. It gets rid of any extra oiliness and nastiness in your skin, reduces fine lines and the appearance of pores. Out of all the things I do to for my skin, this is my favorite because it leaves my face feeling sooo smooth and clean. I’m not even exaggerating. I use Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set that comes with the exfoliator and a moisturizer that I put on right after on the same spots I put the exfoliator. I didn’t even know how nasty my face was till I started using this microdermabrasion stuff!

I’ve been slacking in this department and haven’t done it in a while, but sometimes after cleansing I will put on a facial mask. I tried to do these once a week but I failed miserably. I didn’t even bring my mask with me to Michigan. But when I do put on a facial mask, I use Burt’s Bees Treatment Mask. It’s a weird mask because it says to keep it on your face for 10-15 minutes, then rub it into your skin, and remove the excess with tissue. But it’s a lot of product and I don't see how they expect you to just rub into your skin like a cream, so I just wash it off after 10 or 15 minutes.
And finally after doing all that, I moisturize again like I did in the morning. Sometimes cleansing can make your skin dry, so it’s always important to moisturize right after. I use a moisturizer that is specifically for nighttime, but once again it’s really up to you what type you use as long as you moisturize. I decided to try a new brand and am currently using yes to carrots: intense hydration cream but I usually use Olay’s Age Defying Night Cream. Both work well with my skin so I can't really say which one worked better!
nighttime moisturizer I use now.
I've used this one before as well.

I hope this was somewhat helpful or at least a good place to start! I know everyone's skin type is different so my routine might not work out for you, but essentially all you need is a good moisturizer and a cleanser that works for your skin type.

And Olay, If you want to sponsor me, I am happy to accept because I am clearly a fan. ;)
