What I Learned in 2020
And sarah's back after a long break!!! Jk, it wasn't really a break, I have just been really really bad about posting and I'm sorry!! While I know I've been slacking, I knew I couldn't just skip posting my favorite post of the year... sharing what I learned in 2020! This year I ended up reflecting on my previous posts and I'm kinda filled with nostalgia, but also I'm like, what the hell is my life??? lol.
Last year I talked about how 2019 was one of the worst years of my life and I truly thought 2020 was gonna be my year and..... let me just say this and I will state this again on this list: the most important thing that I learned this year is to never enter a new year with unrealistically high expectations and goals because you will be severely disappointed. Aka how I've been feeling since March, haha. But here we go!
- If you've been invited to something in an unfamiliar place, look up the address on Google and check the distance BEFORE you commit.
- I would rather have money to spend with friends and family than to go shopping.
- Don't EVER go to a Great Clips anywhere in the Atlanta area.
- Eating raspberries make you hungry.
- Do not settle to live on the first/ground/bottom floor of an apartment complex if it's the only one left. Just find another place.
- You can't bleach clothes that are 100% polyester.
- Your sole goal will be wanting every race to be treated the same and will fight till it happens, and people will somehow discredit your feelings and turn it into something else that it's not.
- The media is full of sh*t.
- Don’t add greens to your smoothies if it’s not spinach or kale. It tastes gross.
- The car’s gas “door” will not open unless the car is unlocked and you will look like an idiot trying to open it at the gas station. (At least that's how it is for my car)
- Always pack extra shoes if it's raining.
- True professionalism only exists in job interviews.
- Apparently a pandemic can become a political issue.
- 30-minute recipes usually mean it will take 2 hours.
- Dating is more fun when you take it less seriously.
- Cutting your own bangs isn't as scary as it seems.
- Cars hate me.
- People in Atlanta don't know how to use their blinkers when they drive.
- Live life to the fullest. You never know if a pandemic will take over the world the next day and that night out you weren't excited for was going to be the last normal social event of the year.
- Taylor Swift has more talent in one of her toes than I do in my entire body.
- I learned how to change a flat tire.
- I also learned how to call AAA if I have car issues.
- Just because you move to a new city where you know of a lot of people doesn't mean those people will want to be friends with you.
- Sin is equal in God's eyes. If you've only done half a bad thing, you still did a bad thing.
- I probably need therapy.
- If you keep a small fan on 24/7 for almost a year straight without really ever turning it off, it will break.
- Sometimes you have to threaten people in order to just get a response.
- It is possible to get locked out of your home even if you have your keys.
- Putting yourself out there isn't as stressful as it seems. Just do it.
- Just because someone says they are Christian and close with their family does not mean they can't still be a garbage person and treat you like garbage.
- People will be in their late 20s-early 30s still starting drama. Ridiculous.
- As stated at the beginning, never enter a new year having unrealistic expectations and high hopes thinking that this year will be the best because you will probably jinx it and it could still be as bad or worse than previous years.
- But I learned it's always good to have a sense of humor about that sh*t that has happened because it makes it a little less painful and a little more entertaining!
I have no idea what 2021 will hold, but cheers to a new year!!!
